Future art of a smart city

Experience the future art of a smart city.

FutureEverything 2011 promises to shine a light on the future of visual and conceptual creativity. Gallery installations will take over both traditional and raw spaces throughout the city alongside major public intervention projects encouraging a new look at what the city could be.

FutureEverything is helping to shape Manchester's future as an Open Data City, and the OpenEverything theme of the 2011 festival offers a unique glimpse of stunning new forms of artwork, visualisation and engagement possible in the age of open data and networked cities.

2011's art programme will engage all of the senses and bring the best in digitally inspired creativity to Manchester.

One more theme in the 2011 FutureEverything art programme is FutureMobilities, using art and design to open new playful experiences of mobility and transport, and featuring a dynamic mix of interventions in the streets, on the tracks and off the rails.

Other strands include Handmade on the intersection of craft and DIY hacking, FutureEverybody placing mass participation at the centre of the programme, Global & Connected, and Festival as Lab.

Previous artists in the FutureEverything art programme have included Aaron Koblin, Sosolimited, Marina Zurkow, Agents of Change, AES+F, Rana Begum and Jon Rafman.
