Ryoji Ikeda - test pattern [live set]
Mika Vainio [live]

A rare opportunity to see two of the world's leading conceptual sound artists - both best known for their work exploring abstract electronics - perform on the same stage. The challenging output of Japanese composer Ryoji Ikeda places emphasis on complex audio-visual terrain, with his compositions deriving from a fascination with data, sound and light. Mika Vainio is best known as one half of the Finnish electronic duo Pan Sonic and through his connection to the pioneering Sähkö record label he founded in 1993. His unique and physical sound, be it drone music or abstract minimal techno, is characterised by analogue warmth and metallic harshness.

Produced in association with the BBC.
