We live in a data driven society, huge datasets map a complexity that we rarely see. As these datasets become more open and interoperable it is imperative that new ways of navigating this information evolve. The semantic web is seen as the next iteration of the web. It offers a mechanism for computers to understand relationships between differing datasets and offers a way of exploiting full potential of data.
This session looks at how open data and the semantic web are intertwined and some of the benefits and challenges that are faced.
This session is a precursor to the Talis Open Day that is happening at Manchester University on the 14th May. http://www.talis.com/platform/events/
